In his lecture on tests, Gibbs suggests that "tests should be a learning experience, not just a chance to show what a student has learned. Test students as God does - to make them a better person."
I wonder if anyone has practical suggestions for how to think of these questions with any text we study. What guidelines should I use, what questions should I ask myself that might help me develop assessments that push my students toward virtue?
Perhaps starting each book with a prayer for creativity would be a good place, but if anyone has any other tips, I'm open! Or any great test ideas for specific books you've used with success! (Obviously, these assignments don't have to be tests, if you've got creative assignments that pursue virtue, I'd love those, too.)
